You build an email in Templated. It looks right. It works in Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, dark mode — everywhere. And then you copy-paste the HTML into your ESP and cross your fingers.
That last step always felt off. So we fixed it.
What's new
Templated now connects directly to Mailchimp and Klaviyo. Connect your account with OAuth, and you can push finished templates to your ESP in one click. No exporting. No copy-pasting. No wondering if something broke in transit.
Here's how it works:
- Connect your ESP. Go to Settings > Integrations, pick Mailchimp or Klaviyo, and authorize with OAuth. Takes about 10 seconds.
- Build your email. Use the visual editor like you already do. Design, tweak, preview.
- Add merge fields. Insert personalization tags — first name, company, custom properties — as visual pills right in the editor. You'll see exactly where dynamic content goes before you send.
- Push to your ESP. Hit "Push to Mailchimp" (or Klaviyo). Your template shows up in your ESP, ready to use in a campaign. Merge fields map correctly. HTML stays clean.
That's it. The template you see in Templated is the template your subscribers get.
Why this matters
Copy-pasting HTML between tools is where things break. ESPs sometimes strip styles, reformat code, or quietly change your layout. You don't find out until someone on your team notices the email looks wrong — or worse, until a subscriber does.
Direct integrations remove that gap. You design in a tool built for email rendering. You send from a tool built for email delivery. And the handoff between them is clean.
There's also the merge field problem. Before this, you had to remember the exact syntax for your ESP's personalization tags and type them into raw HTML. Now you pick from a list, drop in a visual pill, and see it in context. If you use first_name in Klaviyo or *|FNAME|* in Mailchimp, Templated handles the syntax for you.
How teams are using it
The pattern we're seeing: designers build and perfect templates in Templated, then push directly to the ESP where the marketing ops team sets up campaigns. No more Slack threads asking "did you upload the latest version?" The latest version is always the one that got pushed.
For teams managing multiple brands or clients, the OAuth connection means you can link different ESP accounts per workspace and push templates to the right place without switching tools.
What's next
Mailchimp and Klaviyo are the first two. We're building Constant Contact and Campaign Monitor integrations next, with the same OAuth flow and one-click push. If you use a different ESP, let us know — we're prioritizing based on what our users actually need.
This is part of a bigger goal: Templated handles the building and testing. Your ESP handles the sending. And the two talk to each other without you playing middleman.
Try it now. Head to Settings > Integrations and connect your first ESP. Takes less than a minute.
